Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for over 20 years. She's well-known as a public speech writer. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentaries and analysis of how popular culture depicts women. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and a prestigious feminist for more than 10 years. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource for education that examines women's positions in the pop culture narratives It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. The site also has the executive director. In her efforts to dispel the myths of women that have been portrayed in pop culture, she seeks to bring attention to harassment targeted at women and other marginalized classes of individuals in the internet world. Sarkeesian holds a York University master's in social theological, philosophical and political thought. Alongside being a well-known public speaker, she's given presentations at TEDxWomen conference and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. At a young age she was intrigued by issues of gender identity and feminist thought. While still at school in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency Website. It was a girl who wanted to create an online series to examine the gender representations in games. However, she became victimized by online harassment. But the assault did have been a hindrance, rather it was a boost to her determination to be a feminist media critic. She has won numerous awards for her contribution to feminism. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded numerous awards and created Feminist Frequency as an educational non-profit that examines the way women are depicted in media narratives.
